Zero Dark Thirty teaser trailer: Hurt Locker director Kathryn Bigelow goes after Osama bin Laden
Let’s get this out of the way: Zero Dark Thirty was in development well before Osama bin Laden was killed. Oscar winning director Kathryn Bigelow and screenwriter Mark Boal had been working on an Osama bin Laden manhunt film.
Then when the news broke they had to go back and re-do their script to accurately reflect what had happened. After all, if they had the movie end with bin Laden alive or killed in a totally different way it wouldn’t look good for a gritty military movie, now would it?
The cast is packed with good actors like Joel Edgerton, Jessica Chastain, Chris Pratt, Kyle Chandler, Mark Strong, Jason Clarke and more. And it of course follows SEAL Team 6 on their hunt of the notorious Al Qaeda leader.
The trailer is adequately intense yet stylish. If you’ve seen Hurt Locker you’ll know what to expect – a gritty and tense military film all the way through with plenty about the mental toll war takes on its soldiers.
Zero Dark Thirty is definitely going to be controversial. Some saw it as President Barack Obama propaganda, so it was moved back to Dec. 19 so it has as little effect on the election as possible. Others will think it’s American military propaganda even though no one has seen the film yet. It’s a lot of unknowns and will surely be a talking point on talking head news broadcast programs.
