YouTube to launch a film festival run by Ridley and Tony Scott
Attention, young filmmakers. YouTube and Scott Free Productions wants to send you to the Venice Film Festival.
The site is launching the Your Film Festival, which will take submissions of up to 15 minutes long from Feb. 2 to March 31. Participants must be 18 years old and their films must not have been distributed prior to Jan. 1, 2010.
Ridley and Tony Scott will choose 50 semifinalist from all the entries. Those 50 will be hosted on a YouTube channel called Your Film Festival, which will allow users to vote for their favorites. The top 10 finalists will go to the Venice Film Festival, who will have their entries screened and judged by Ridley Scott and a jury and Mr. Scott will pick a winner.
What does the winner get? A $500,000 grant to produce a piece of work for Scott Free Productions. That’s right, you get to make a movie or short film for Ridley ‘effin Scott.
