What’s next for the Oscar winners?
Year’s over. Oscar’s are done. Time to move on, finally. It’s been a long couple months and I’m sure these actors are tired of Awards Season. They just want to get back to work. So what’s next for the winners of the Big 5 Awards (Best Actress, Best Actor, Best Director, Best Supporting Actress, Best Supporting Actor).
Octavia Spencer
From the big 5 winners, Spencer has the most packed schedule. In 2012 she’s got Smashed, The Trials and Tribulations of a Trailer Trash Housewife and Lost on Purpose, all in a supporting role. In 2013 she’s got Diablo Cody’s directorial debut about a group of conservative plane crash survivors that question their faith and Snow Piercer with Chris Evans, which is about a group of travelers in a world that’s covered with ice and snow.
Christopher Plummer
After his Oscar win Plummer jumps right into Muhammad Ali’s Greatest Fight, which is about Ali’s fight with the US government over not wanting to go to the Vietnam War. He co-stars with Frank Langella and Benjamin Walker. He’s rumored to be in another boxing movie called Five Good Years, which stars True Blood star Ryan Kwanten as a young coal miner who has to get into the ring to save his ill-fated mother.
Michel Hazanavicius
The Best Director winner has French film The Players hitting this year, which also stars his best buddy Jean Dujardin. Hazanavicius writes and directs a couple short films in this anthology about infidelity. After that? Nothing yet. Hopefully it’s another Hollywood project.
Meryl Streep
The 3-time Oscar winner has Great Hope Springs hitting this year, which co-stars Steve Carrell and Tommy Lee Jones. Jones and Streep play a married couple that, after 30 years of marriage, attend an intense counseling weekend to decide the fate of their marriage. In 2013 she has August: Osage County with Julia Roberts hitting. It’s based on a play and about a family overcoming differences after their drug-addicted patriarch goes missing.
Jean Dujardin
Like his French friend, Dujardin has a couple French films in the works. He has The Players this year, in which he plays 5 different character in short stories. In 2013 he has another French film called Mobius, which is about an FSB officer that falls in love with his agent, who works as a trader in a Russian bank. He’s also rumored to be in 2013′s A Stormy Summer Night with Juliet Binoche (also a French movie), which is about a couple that’s forced to relocate to a small town in Spain after a violent storm hurts their vacation plans. This small town happens to be the site of a crime of passion and the whole town is infatuated with the crime.
