Watch the trailer for the Wachowski Siblings and Tom Tykwer’s ambitious Cloud Atlas

UPDATE: You can now watch the trailer in the post above.

The Wachowski Siblings Andy and Lana (The Matrix, Speed Racer) have gotten together with Run Lola Run director Tom Tykwer to deliver what is definitely the most ambitious film of 2012.

It’s based on the book Cloud Atlas and puts together a star cast that includes Tom Hanks, Halle Berry and Hugh Grant. The film has all of its actors playing multiple roles in the past, present and future however. So what’s it about? Well, the basic thing is that the film is about how all of time is connected. So things in the past will affect the present which affect the future. It also has a lot to do with the reincarnation line of thinking. Characters played by the same actors kind of feel the same because they’re cosmically linked.

I’ll say it again: it’s ambitious. The film was financed by various people around the world and distributed by Warner Bros. Not many like to finance complicated films that have actors playing multiple roles with three directors on board. If you want to know more about the film’s inception, you can watch the Director’s Commentary below, and you can watch the trailer over at APPLE. Once there’s an embed version we’ll update this post.
