House of Cards has long been in the works. When Netflix came along and swooped it up it was something of a coup. A David Fincher and Kevin Spacey project that looks like it could easily belong on HBO? That’s something special.
Spacey plays a cunning Congressman who is playing politics. Fincher has assembled a pretty great cast, which includes the aforementioned Spacey, Dragon Tattoo’s Robin Wright, Midnight in Paris’ Corey Stoll, Cabin in the Woods’ Kristen Connolly and even Rooney Mara’s sister Kate Mara!
I’m surprised at how much this looks like an HBO show. It would fit perfectly on their network, right after The Newsroom. It also looks like a version of Boss, which is an excellent show about politics. Netflix has a lot riding on this and it looks damn fantastic. All 13 episodes of Season 1 will debut on February 1.
