When there was word of a Dredd remake I was really iffy. In fact, I completely wrote it off. After having watched this trailer I’m definitely aboard.

It’s more of a gritty take on the world of Judge Dredd, unlike that Sylvester Stallone version. The story is also contained. Dredd has to go into a fully armed apartment complex to take down the evil Lena Headey (she is so good at being bad). It’s important to note that this isn’t a remake. It’s a reboot of the Dredd franchise based on the comic. So get that other movie out of your head.

Karl Urban’s Dredd sounds a lot like Batman, but it helps make his lines sound a lot less goofy. And no, this isn’t a copy of The Raid: Redemption. This movie was in development before that film, so there’s no conceivable way they could have based this one off of The Raid, so don’t even try.
