Watch the emotional trailer for Cannes Palme d’Or winner Amour
Every year there’s a film at Cannes that takes the festival by storm and ends up winning the top prize, the Palme d’Or. Past winners include last years The Tree of Life, Apocalypse Now, Pulp Fiction, Taxi Driver and more.
This year it went to Michael Haneke’s Amour (Love). It’s a French film by an Austrian director about an elderly couple. They’re former music teachers that are in their 80s. One day, the wife suffers a stroke that tests the strength of the couple’s relationship. Their daughter also lives with them.
It looks pretty gripping and there’s an intense silence hear. The end of the trailer packs quite a punch as well. Sony Pictures Classics picked it up for a December 19 release but it’ll have an uphill battle if it wants to win any Oscars. [via /Film]
