Paul Weitz, the director of About A Boy, hasn’t had too much luck since that movie. This, however, doesn’t look too bad.

Paul Dano stars as Nick Flynn. He takes up a job at his homeless shelter and eventually his absentee father turns up as they meet for the first time in forever. The film is based on Nick Flynn’s memoir Another Bullshit Night in Suck City.

Although it doesn’t look too bad, it also doesn’t look great. In fact, you could easily mistake this for a Lifetime movie if De Niro weren’t in it. De Niro does look like he’s doing a great job, however. So there’s a reason to see it. And Dano is a gifted actor as well. [Deadline]
