Watch Peter Jackson explain the 3D on The Hobbit in is newest video blog
The Hobbit is being filmed in 3D. No no, don’t panic! This isn’t some cash-in by a studio. This is Peter Jackson.
In his newest video blog of The Hobbit Jackson goes over the process of filming in 3D. Although he says it’s not very hard, it is. The camera they’re using, the RED Epic, eats up a lot of the color they shoot. So they have to go overboard with it on costumes and on the sets so it shows through.
A good side effect of the camera is that it’s going to shoot in 48 frames per second, which is twice the speed of what movies are usually shot at. This means that the movie will come across as more natural, and more awesome.
The Hobbit comes out December 14, 2012. And with good 3D and 48 fps it’s going to be something you want to watch in IMAX. [Moviefone via Cinemablend]
