Watch Orson Welles’ 1937 screen test for Warner Bros.

Orson Welles may be one of the more brilliant minds in film history. His movie Citizen Kane is considered to be the best technically made film of all time. It ushered in a whole new era of movies, really. At least in how a director tells a story.

He didn’t always start out big though. Just like any other actor or director he had to work his way up to the top. It all started with a screen test he did in 1937. Warner Bros didn’t hire him though. They passed on Orson Welles. To be fair, hindsight is always 20/20.
