Watch Michel Gondry take you on a tour of his favorite Parisian video store

Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. Be Kind Rewind. The Science of Sleep. If you liked any of those movies then you’re probably a fan of Michel Gondry’s work, and you don’t even know it.

And now you can watch him tour you through his favorite Parisian video store, walking around like he’s in a giant candy store. Although it’s no surprise that the director of Be Kind Rewind has an affinity for video stores, it’s just amazing to watch.

He promptly runs around (not literally) finding movies by directors he’s inspired by, like George Melies, Wim Wenders and Jim Jarmusch. And then begins to talk about them like any director does when they talk about their inspiration. Remember Steven Spielberg talking about Lawrence of Arabia?

Michel Gondry: A Cinephile’s Labyrinth on

It’s always fascinating seeing filmmakers revert to their childlike wonder when talking about movies, and that’s no different coming from Gondry. I wish this was a series of videos. Just big name directors going through video stores talking about their favorite movies. Too bad here in America most of them are dying out.

This year you’ll be able to see Gondry’s latest film Moon Indigo. [via The Playlist]
