Watch Ben Affleck try to save hostages in the trailer for Argo
Everyone used to hate Ben Affleck. He was in Gigli, he was in the flop that was Daredevil (although it wasn’t as bad as everyone thought) and he was just an easy target.
Then he directed his first feature film, Gone Baby Gone, and people started to realize that he was talented. Not that he helped write Good Will Hunting or anything. Though people looked at that as Matt Damon’s accomplishment.
Oh, then he directed the pretty awesome heist flick The Town. And now he follows that up with Argo, which has him as a CIA operative that’s staging a fake science fiction film to rescue hostages in Iran. He has a stellar cast, but he also has a film that balances two different tones – it could get very silly and very serious.
It’s looking pretty good though and Warner Bros. must have some confidence in it, otherwise they wouldn’t line it up for an Oscar run.
