Warner Bros. will make a sci-fi dinosaur movie directed by James Cameron’s protege
Jurassic Park is easily the best dinosaur film of all time. Second would be The Land Before Time. Pixar’s dinosaur movie will likely join the discussion in the future. But it looks like there might be a dinosaur trend brewing in Hollywood as Warner Bros. has purchased the rights to a new science fiction dino movie.
The movie is about a rapidly-evolving species of dinosaurs that attack modern Los Angeles. I’m going to assume someone was using amber to extract dino DNA to make a theme park in LA to rival San Diego’s famous zoo but that it goes horribly wrong and then dinosaurs break out and start murdering the people of Los Angeles. Just a guess, though. No official story details are out.
The film will be directed by John Clisham, who has been a longtime employee of James Cameron’s Lightstorm Entertainment. The film was originally conceived as a web series of sorts, but the Brothers Warner loved it so much they decided to turn it into a big budget feature film.
James Cameron’s special effects team will likely work on the movie, which means two thing:
- The movie will be in 3D.
- The dinosaurs will look amazing.
So yeah, this is a movie to keep an eye on. [Deadline]
