Viacom CEO says there will be a fifth Mission: Impossible

If you loved Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol and want more Tom Cruise kicking ass you’re going to get your wish. Viacom, Paramount Pictures’ parent company, had a shareholder meeting recently and their CEO Philippe Dauman confirmed that there are plans for another Mission: Impossible.

A shareholder asked him if there were plans to develop a sequel and he simply said “Oh, yes.” What he didn’t say was: that movie brought in OVER HALF A BILLION DOLLARS, of course we’re making another one!

It also stands as the top grossing film in Cruise’s career, which is impressive in itself. As for who’s returning … no one knows. Each MI movie has been by a different director, so there’s no word on whether Brad Bird will return. The first was by Brian De Palma, the second was John Woo, the third was J.J. Abrams and the fourth Brad Bird. It’s safe to say Abrams will return in a producer capacity and Cruise will return as Ethan Hunt. I mean really, these movies have turned into Cruise’s babies. [THR]
