Trailer: Spike Lee returns to Brooklyn with Red Hook Summer
Spike Lee has had a terrible time making movies recently. Or well, I don’t know if he’s had a terrible time but his movies lately have been terrible. Inside Man was awesome, but after that? Bleh.
So for Red Hook Summer he’s going back to Brooklyn, much like his awesome Do The Right Thing. This one is about a boy from Atlanta that moves into his family member’s home, who happens to be a preacher.
It all looks like vintage Lee, and he’s definitely going for that by listing his earlier movies in the trailer rather than anything recent or popular (Inside Man?). It all looks pretty good, but some people who saw it early absolutely hated it. Apparently he’s changed some things then, but I’m not holding my breath. I should mention that there’s a twist in this film that drew some controversy.
I won’t say what that twist is because it would spoil it, but it’ll be interesting to see how this film turns out.
