A long while ago, when The Muppets was releasing in theaters, Fox News said the film was brainwashing young kids into hating capitalism and the oil industry. Seriously.

See, the film is about a rich oil baron who wants to destroy The Muppets’ old studio to get to the oil underneath and make massive amounts of moolah. And he was pretty evil in how he went about it, ya know – lying, cheating, etc.

So now, The Muppets have responded to Fox News’ allegations in a press conference that pretty much hits Fox News where it hurts. As Kermit points out, if The Muppets was trying to brainwash kids into hating the oil industry and capitalism why would they spend the movie driving around in a gas guzzler? [via Slashfilm]
