The guy who played Biff Tannen in Back to the Future uses postcards to answer fans

If you played an iconic role in one of the most well-known and well-loved trilogies in the history of film what would you do if you were questioned by everyone about everything Back to the Future for two decades?

Tom Wilson, who played Biff Tannen in the trilogy, has this same problem. So what he did is assemble a post card with answers to questions he’s already anticipated. It’s essentially a FAQ that frees him from answering the same question over and over and over again like some kind of slow-moving torture.

It’s got some great nuggets too, like hey, how was it working with the rest of the cast?

Michael J. Fox is nice. I’m not in close contact with him. Christopher Lloyd is nice. He is a very shy man. Crispin Glover is unusual, but not as unusual as he sometimes presents himself. We got along nicely. Lea Thompson is nice.”

Oh that’s cool. Say, did those hoverboards actually hover? That would be quite handy! And that manure must’ve stunk! The DeLorean must’ve been great! I want one!

“The hoverboards didn’t really fly, we were hanging by wires from a cane. The manure was made from peat moss, cork, dirt and a food agent that made it sticky. The DeLorean was an inferior automobile and nearly impossible for a person of normal size like myself to enter and exit.”

Yeah, so reality doesn’t always translate to your fondness for the fiction. You can read the full postcard over at Letters of Note. Right now, Wilson has turned himself into both a musician and stand-up comedian. [Letters of Note via THR]
