Moneybags assemble! The Avengers came with a lot of hype and it largely lived up to it. Now it’s the third highest growing film of all time, right behind Avatar and Titanic. That’s right, it has leapfrogged over The Dark Knight. Sorry, Batman fanboys.

The Avengers has $1.3 billion worldwide, behind Avatar’s $2.7 billion and Titanic’s $2.1 billion. Domestically, Avengers is much closer with $552 million behind Avatar’s $760 million and Titanic’s $658 million.

It’s very possible for Avengers to catch Titanic, as it still hasn’t fallen below $20 million in a weekend, but it’s going to be hard. And it’s going to be impossible to catch Avatar worldwide.
