The Avengers success has helped increase shawarma sales
In the past week, I’ve easily seen the word shawarma more times than I’ve ever seen it before. It owes it’s newfound popularity to The Avengers, which has a hilarious scene tied to the word (which is a food product, by the way).
TMZ is reporting that Los Angeles has seen an 80% increase in shawarma sales. Boston and St. Louis are two other cities that have an increased interest in shawarma. Even the Internet has seen increased shawarma activity, as Geeks are Sexy says that Google searches have increased as well.
I’m sure you’ve heard plenty of co-workers or people simply say “let’s get shawarma after.” Be aware, they are not simply suggesting a food item they are in fact making a reference to The Avengers. And you probably didn’t even get it. Shame on you. I’m surprised Fox News hasn’t gone after The Avengers for it’s pro-Shawarma agenda. [via /Film]
