That MATRIX Reboot Might Actually Be A Morpheus Prequel This kind of changes things?
A couple days ago we learned that Warner Bros was planning to reboot The Matrix, but it turns out the reboot isn’t really a reboot. Instead, it’s more of a prequel.
The good people over at Birth.Movies.Death report that they’ve been told by two separate sources that the movie is all about a young Morpheus. It’s the approach that WB has favored for a good, long while now. Instead of retelling the story of Neo, they want to tell the story of the other famous character from the franchise, classically portrayed by Laurence Fishburne.
Ah, so that’s why there were rumors they wanted Michael B. Jordan to star. He wouldn’t be the new Neo, he would be the new Morpheus. This… is a little more interesting and palatable than a full-on reboot. I still don’t think it’s a good idea, but it’s — at the very least — a better idea. [BMD]
