Sundance hit and found footage within found footage movie V/H/S is causing people to pass out in theaters

Sundance is a strange place. There are a ton of indie movies. Some not good, some awesome. It’s happening now and one of the big hits there has been V/H/S, which is a found footage within found footage movie.

It’s about a group of people that a hired by an unknown third party to acquire a VHS tape from a desolate house. They end up finding more scary and crazy footage than they wanted. The film is an overall found footage film, and each VHS tape is a different found footage film within the overall film. Each VHS tape tells a different story as well. Yep, it’s basically a horror anthology.

One audience member passed out at the midnight showing of the film, while another was treated for nausea 20 minutes later during a gruesome scene. Marketing? Maybe, but it worked. Magnolia is picking up the movie for a theatrical release in the fall. [Deadline]
