Steven Spielberg is going to direct a gritty biopic of Moses that’s a lot like Braveheart
Steven Spielberg is a busy man. He’s released two films this year – somehow. He’s working on Lincoln right now, which releases in December. After that he’s going to take on Robopocalypse. And after that he’s going to make Gods and Kings.
The movie is essentially a Braveheart style version of Moses’ story. He will be adopted, leave his home, form an army, part the red sea, get the ten commandments, all that. Warner Bros. wants it to be like Saving Private Ryan – real gritty. They want to show off Moses the warrior. And not only that, they want Spielberg to redefine the religious figure movie.
See, most movies about Moses are glossy. They’re clean and told neatly. They’re kinda like superhero movies in a weird way. Warner Bros. does not want that and it’s awesome. A gritty movie about Moses? Can it please star Liam Neeson? PLEASE? He’s played Zeus! [Deadline via Filmonic]
