When Nicolas Winding Refn and Ryan Gosling teamed up for Drive they gave us one of the coolest and best movies of 2011. The level of violence and the impact of that violence was just amazing. It looks like they’re going to surpass that for Only God Forgives.

In their new movie, Gosling plays a Thai Boxing club owner that has strong ties to the mob. Apparently his mom is some crazy mob boss. Anyway, Gosling’s brother kills a prostitute and messes with a local cop the people call The Angel of Vengeance. Gosling and the cop are then put on a dangerous course where the outcome is extreme violence.

Sounds good to me. Winding Refn is one of the up and coming directors and Gosling is one of the better young actors. When you put them together enough times you’re just going to get better and better films.

There’s no release date for Only God Forgives, but it is expected later this year. But expect a vengeance-filled tale of extreme violence. [Collider via Movies.com]
