Rumor: Jeremy Renner may play WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange in a film for DreamWorks
It was only a matter of time before someone tried to make a film about infamous WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange. DreamWorks has picked up the rights to the books WikiLeaks: Inside Julian Assange’s War on Secrecy and Inside WikiLeaks: My Time with Julian Assange and the World’s Most Dangerous Website.
Deadline reports that Bourne Legacy (and Hawkeye) Jeremy Renner is thinking about the role and that Twilight Saga’s Bill Condon (who’s better than that movie suggest, check out his other stuff) is rumored to direct. Of course, rumors are rumors. WikiLeaks, if you don’t remember, is that site that leaked secret diplomatic cables and notes. Assange is wanted by both the U.S. and Sweden. The United States wants to prosecute him for leaking documents and Sweden wants to get him for sexually assaulting two females.
What do you think? Could Renner pull off the white hair? [Deadline via Movies.com]
