Roger Avary to get back to work with Faulkner adaptation
Roger Avary, who won an Academy Award for co-writing Pulp Fiction, is finally getting back to work and he’ll be tackling an adaptation of William Faulkner’s Sanctuary. So where was he? Jail.
He was sentenced to a year in prison in 2009 for vehicular manslaughter after a crash that claimed the life of his friend. He finished up his sentence in July 2010 and it looks like he’s ready for work now, and his new project seems very interesting.
The tale follows Temple Drake, who gets caught up with bootleggers and racketeers in a sex and violence filled adventure in the south. Sounds like the perfect project for Avary to sink his teeth into. [Deadline via The Playlist]
