Robert Downey Jr. made $50 million from The Avengers

Robert Downey Jr. has been the face of the Marvel movies ever since Iron Man. In fact, after the success of Iron Man, his agent renegotiated his contract so that he makes five to seven percent of the grosses from any Marvel movie that he appears in as Tony Stark.

The Avengers has made $1 billion world wide, so RDJ gets $50 million. This is just the total for now. As the movie continues to rake in money faster than a sweet tooth gulps down ice cream he’ll make tons more money.

His co-stars aren’t as lucky. Chris Hemsworth, Chris Evans, Jeremy Renner and Mark Ruffalo all earn $2 – $3 million per movie and Samuel L. Jackson and Scarlett Johansson earn $4 – $6 million per movie.

The final number will likely be sky high, because The Avengers has only been out for about three weeks and still has to come out on DVD/Blu Ray and VOD and rake in the money in that arena as well. Oh, and he’s sure to make a killing on box office bonuses. Holy moneybags, Iron Man. [THR via Moviefone]
