Ridley Scott wants to do a Prometheus sequel and a new Blade Runner

Ridley Scott is undergoing a sort of a renaissance right now. After a string of dramas that failed to light the box office up or even the critics’ keyboards he has returned to his darling – science fiction.

It’s obvious he’s having a blast, because he wants to do a sequel. And well, he told Entertainment Weekly in their new issue that he was having a lot of fun and had forgotten how fun science fiction is.

Scott has The Counselor next, which stars Javier Bardem, Michael Fassbender, Cameron Diaz, Penelope Cruz and Brad Pitt, but he wants to do another Prometheus after that – studio willing. Just by the by, Scott describes The Counselor as “No Country for Old Men on steroids.”

He also has a Blade Runner prequel/sequel in the works with original Blade Runner scripter Hampton Fancher working on the script now. If either of those two don’t work out, he also has a biopic of Gertrude Stein on his plate starring Angelina Jolie.

Which film would you like Scott to tackle next? I’d love a new Blade Runner from him, then a new Prometheus if the current Prometheus is any good. Let’s not get ahead of ourselves, why would we want a sequel to a movie that could turn out to be absolute crap?

Either way, it’s exciting to see that the 74-year-old director has reinvigorated himself and his passion. Special treat below, a new viral from Prometheus. [via The Playlist]
