Review Roundup: American Reunion

This week there’s a trip down memory lane in the fourth American Pie movie American Reunion. Other than that? Titanic 3D and a whole bunch of Video On Demand releases. The review roundup is all about the movie theater though. What do you want to spend your hard-earned $10 on every week? And really, why would there be reviews for a movie that’s almost two decades old? So this week we have an expanded roundup for American Reunion.

American Reunion

Ricardo Baca of the Denver Post says:

Yes, “American Reunion” is a juvenile outing. They steal jet skis and defecate in beer coolers. They cheat on their girlfriends and lie to their best friends.

But what did you expect?

Peter Howell of the Toronto Star says:

And American Reunion, remarkably, might just be the funniest issue yet from the American Pie franchise factory.

Roger Ebert of RogerEbert.com says:

In fact, “American Reunion” seems to depend so much on nostalgia for “Pie” history that I wonder if a first-timer to the series would feel a little out to sea. If you liked the earlier films, I suppose you gotta see this one. Otherwise, I dunno.

Owen Gleiberman of Entertainment Weekly says:

As it turns out, the recipe has been updated, and what once seemed like fatally warmed-over Pie tastes new again.

Richard Corliss of TIME Magazine says:

The movie’s message is that the way to face impeding maturity is to embrace your inner teen idiot.

Amy Biancolli of the San Francisco Chronicle says:

“American Reunion” isn’t a total wash. Its one saving grace is Eugene Levy as Jim’s dad.

VERDICT: Fan of the originals? GO SEE IT! Didn’t like them? SKIP IT.

Great article! I do agree this is a trip down memory lane. I remember watching the original back in 1999, and I thought it was great. Now here we are 13 years later with the original cast again. I think this is one of the better American Pie movies. I’ve watched the first two, using my Blockbuster@Home service. This will provide me access to thousands of movies, and TV shows on any room using my Hopper DVR. I can stream to an iPad too, and with the Sling adapter hooked up I can take TV on the run. These are great options that everyone in my family can use. This has allowed me to get more TV now, than I’ve done in the past few years. This was a great recommendation from my coworker at Dish. Now I get nonstop entertainment where ever I go.
