Pixar lines up director Andrew Stanton to make Finding Nemo 2
This is a tad disappointing. Pixar was once known as a house of original stories. Toy Story, Monster’s Inc, Finding Nemo, The Incredibles, Ratatouille and more. But now, they seem obsessed with sequels.
Cars 2, Monster’s University, Toy Story 4 and now Finding Nemo 2. Of course, Pixar wants to make movies with good stories so they usually won’t make a film unless they’ve locked down a story worth telling (Cars 2 may be the exception).
What in the world could Finding Nemo 2 be about? Did he get lost? Does Nemo have a child and lose it? Is Nemo a spy (like Mater in Cars 2)?
This may be a good sign though: Disney hasn’t had the best relationship with Stanton after the costly financial bomb that was John Carter, but they loved his idea so much they decided to go with it with Stanton at the helm. Deadline also suggest Stanton wants to do this so they give him another shot at a live action film.
Either way, it’ll be interesting to see how this turns out. Do you want a Finding Nemo 2? [Deadline via The Playlist]
