It was only a matter of time before a fan recreated those spiffy cubes from Super 8. But now it’s over as Paramount has sent a cease and desist letter to its creator.

It looks pretty awesome and I would totally buy it. And that’s probably what Paramount was thinking when they sent the cease and desist to the owner, who had uploaded a CAD file to make a 3D-printable cube on Shapeways. See, looks like Paramount had plans of making and selling them itself, and licensed the rights to a company called Quantum Mechanix.
