Be warned, makers of Harry Potter memes, Hermione Granger fans and general Emma Watson admirers – Emma Watson is a dangerous search and using Google or Bing to look her up isn’t an easy stroll into Hogsmeade.
McAfee, the makers of security software, do these studies and their latest have found that hackers like to use Watson the most as a lure into a trap. In fact, searching for her yields a 1 in 8 chance that you’d hit a malicious site. I’m going to guess this is why: she’s cute, she played a ‘safe’ and ‘responsible’ character in Harry Potter so it’s ironic and Harry Potter is a huge franchise that appeals to multiple age groups and both genders.
Last year Heidi Klum was the top target. Why? I’m guessing a wide range of guys got sucked into Project Runway or something. Generally, females are used to lure people into online traps more than men. In the top 20, the only male was Jimmy Kimmel. The other dangerous females to search for are Jessica Biel, Eva Mendes, Selena Gomez and Halle Berry. [Fox News]
