Matt Damon’s directorial debut cancelled: Gus Van Sant to take over

Matt Damon was supposed to try out that director’s chair like his BFF Ben Affleck for a film he and The Office’s John Krasinski wrote.

Unfortunately, Damon didn’t realize how busy he would be so he had to step down as director. So he took the script to the director of his first script: Gus Van Sant.

Of course, Damon and Gus Van Sant have some experience together in Good Will Hunting. The film is about rival corporate executives, who are played by Damon and Krasinski. Damon plays a man who returns to a small town and has his whole life called into question.

This is probably the best outcome for a film. Damon could be a great director, but Van Sant is on a different level. And the last time these two teamed up it turned out pretty great. [Deadline]
