Let Peter Jackson take you on a tour of Middle-Earth in the new Hobbit production vlog

Peter Jackson has showed you a bunch of behind-the-scenes stuff for The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey, which comes out later this year, in his previous production vlogs but now he wants to take you on a tour of the locations as they shoot on them.

This may be their best production video yet. You get to see some of the logistics of filmming on location (do they get the Internet? Yes) as they jet around New Zealand shooting scenes and fighting temperamental weather. You’ll also see 2nd unit director Andy Serkis lead his army of helicopters, capturing scenes Peter Jackson and his first unit don’t have the time to get.

You’ll see how the cast and crew is fed and how helicopters have to transport the entire team to some locations, because driving in a car or walking doesn’t allow you to get to certain locations. Oh, and how the crew avoided a raging river. It’s amazing stuff. What you don’t see is footage from The Hobbit: There and Back Again, which comes out in December 2013. Why? Peter Jackson says you’re not allowed to see that stuff until 2013, that’s why. [Moviefone]
