It does seem like Keira Knightley loves to do period pieces, doesn’t it? She’s got Dangerous Method, Atonement, Pride and Prejudice, The Duchess, Pirates of the Caribbean and more in the past five years.
Now she’s re-teaming with Joe Wright, director of Hanna, Atonement and Pride and Prejudice, to adapt Leo Tolstoy’s famous novel into a film. She plays an aristocrat that enters a life-changing affair with a man. Jude Law plays her husband while Aaron Johnson plays the affair dude.
It all looks quite interesting, if not a bit melodramatic but what do you expect from a period romance? This certainly has one thing going for it: it looks beautiful. And at this point Joe Wright has earned the right to get an automatic view from me. Atonement and Hanna in particular were pretty damn excellent.
