Joseph Gordon-Levitt is going to direct himself and Scarlett Johansson in a “sexy comedy”

No one is going to have a bigger acting year in 2012 than Joseph Gordon-Levitt. That’s right, the man who broke out in 2005′s Brick and rose to fame with (500) Days of Summer and Inception is going to get even bigger.

In 2012 he has The Dark Knight Rises, Lincoln, Looper, Django Unchained and Premium Rush. Count ‘em. There are 3 surefire hits in The Dark Knight Rises, Steven Spielberg’s Lincoln and Quentin Tarantino’s Django Unchained. And two movies that could become hits if people like them in Looper and Premium Rush.

JGL is setting his sights a little hire for 2013 though. He is set to make his feature writing and directing debut with a movie about a modern-day Don Juan who’s goal is to become a better person. He’s already nabbed the beautiful Scarlett Johansson to co-star and will cast another actress in the coming months, according to Deadline. Production is set to start in April but it’ll likely come out in early 2013.

Gordon-Levitt has done some short film work, in case you’re wondering. So he won’t be a total newbie. He has this website hitRECord.org, where writers and filmmakers and more can collaborate on projects together. It’s neat-o.

Oh, and he says he’s been learning from the best. “I spent a year working with Chris Nolan, Rian Johnson, Steven Spielberg, and I did my best to pay attention. I’ve also been making short films for a long time now, I’ve directed a ton of them, and that is a huge part of why I feel comfortable and confident in this,” Gordon-Levitt said. Who can argue with him? [Deadline]
