Jonathan Lipnicki got career advice from Tom Cruise
Remember Jonathan Lipnicki? He was that adorable kid in Jerry Maguire with the huge head and doubled as one of the more memorable things about that movie, minus some of the one-liners.
Remember him? Well he’s all grown up know and he’s trying to transition from kid actor in real actor. “I met up with him a few months ago and got his advice for my transition as an actor,” he told Vulture.
“We sat out on the patio to his house and talked about acting. He puts a lot of emphasis on being polite and manners and being on time. He said to always keep yourself busy, because then you’ll always be motivated to be creative. The more you produce, the more you create, the happier you’re going to be anyway.”
That’s some good advice, except I think Lipnicki needs to get busy. That might be a problem, but at least he tried. I’m sure when Lipnicki was a kid in Jerry Maguire he loved Cruise, right?
“Top Gun was my favorite movie at the time. I would always say on set, ‘I have the need for speed!’ And I told [Tom] how much I loved it. So I have a poster of Mission: Impossible that he signed, ‘You can be my wingman anytime.’ And it’s one of those things that, whenever I feel down, it makes me believe in myself.”
Aww. That’s adorable. Now, Mr. Cruise – why don’t you get your new BFF some awesome role in a movie you’re producing? It worked when Steven Spielberg did it for Shia LaBeouf. [Vulture]
