WOAH WAIT DUMB AND DUMBER 2!? The Farrelly Brothers will be back in the directors’ chairs this fall with Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels back in the fold.

I know, I know. The movie decades old and Hollywood has had a hard-on for sequels to old films recently (Anchorman 2, Triplets, American Reunion) but at least Carrey and Daniels are both in it? Right?

The Brothers Farrelly want you to know that the prequel When Harry Met Lloyd was a studio thing and they didn’t approve. This is the true sequel. They have been waiting for the right timing to produce this film, and apparently that timing is 18 years later.

I’m going to guess, ya know – go out on a limb, and say that the story they dreamed up was to revisit their characters when they were much older. The script is going to be handled by the dudes that did Hot Tub Time Machine, so who knows the quality of this film.

It’ll probably boost Carrey’s career, which has been headed down recently. Although Daniels may not benefit too much, he does have the awesome looking The Newsroom from Aaron Sorkin on HBO this summer. Are you ready for a Dumb and Dumber sequel? [The Film Stage]
