Jennifer Lawrence is the frontrunner for David O. Russell’s next

Jennifer Lawrence took Winter’s Bone and turned that into good roles in X-Men First Class and The Hunger Games. Now she’s adding another excellent role for herself.

Deadline reports that Lawrence is in the lead to nab the role in The Silver Linings Playbook, which is from The Fighter director David O. Russell.

The story, based on the Matthew Quick novel, is about a former high school teacher who’s institutionalized for depression and released into the care of his mother. He tries to win back his ex-wife when he’s released but becomes involved with an eccentric neighbors who has her own problems to deal with.

The part of the neighbor is the one Lawrence is circling and apparently it’s very coveted. Rachel McAdams, Blake Lively, Anne Hathaway and Andrea Riseborough have been mentioned in the mix as well.

It certainly sounds like a great idea for a film, and seems to be in Russell’s wheelhouse. I wouldn’t be surprised if this landed Lawrence an Oscar nomination either. [Deadline]
