Jackie Chan has retired from action films

As a kid, it’s almost like I grew up watching Jackie Chan action films. His movies were everywhere and pretty much everyone loved him. He saw success with the Rush Hour franchise in Hollywood. As you know, he constantly put his body on the line for his stunts. It looks like his body has had enough of crashing through walls and falling great distances.

At Cannes, he announced that his new movie Chinese Zodiac would be his last action film.

“This is my last action film. I tell you, I’m not young any more. I’m really, really tired. And the world is too violent right now. It’s a dilemma – I like action but I don’t like violence.”

He said he’s been considering retirement for a long time but this time he means it. And to be clear, he’s not retiring from acting – just from action films. He wants to be the Asian Robert De Niro (his words, not mine).

Chan has been in about 100 films, many of them action ones. Yes, he does all of his own stunts. A lot of them without a safety harness of any kind. Here’s a video showing 10 of his most crazy stunts. [The Telegraph]

[…] Jackie Chan action movies make up a good portion of my younger years. They were so awesome and he did all his own stunts! Plus the outtakes for all his movies were awesome. So it’s sad to see he’s finally retiring from action movies.  […]
