Huh? Pre-ordering Prometheus Blu Ray on Amazon gets you free ticket to Prometheus in theaters
Talk about jumping the gun. Amazon is running a new promotion for Prometheus. Basically, if you pre-order the Blu Ray for $28 you get a free ticket to see it in theaters. Of course, there’s a catch: you have to be one of the first 5,000 people to pre-order.
Maybe it’s me, but why would you pre-order a Blu Ray for a movie you haven’t seen? And how does a free ticket make sense? What if you hate it? You could spend $10 on a movie ticket to see it in theaters or almost triple the price to see it and get a Blu Ray version in a couple months time.
OK – it’s a good deal. But what if you hate it? There’s no guarantee you like the movie at all. You could hate it. You could think it’s just OK and then you’re saddled with the Blu Ray (which you could probably trade in somewhere or sell on eBay or Craigslist, but still).
Anyway, if you’re down to splurge $30 on Prometheus then you can go ahead and click the image. [via Scott Weinberg]
