Here’s your first look at Liam Neeson in Taken 2
The original Taken was quite the surprise. It was awesome, established Liam Neeson as a big star and earned about $200 million at the box office. Naturally, this means that a sequel was on the deck.
So if you’re ready to watch Neeson use his very particular set of skills again you’ll have to wait till October 5th. Entertainment Weekly has the first images from the film and he looks as bad ass as ever.
He’s snapping necks, shooting things off a train and it looks like he’s standing in front of either fireworks or someone working in a metal shop.
The sequel takes Neeson and his family to Istanbul about two years after the first film. The father of one of the human traffickers he killed in the first film is after him and not only kidnaps his daughter and wife but himself too. Neeson says the action has been dialed up for the sequel.
“The action is supposed to take place about a year or a year and a half after the first story. It’s a very clever sequel with the usual thrills and spills, but the ante is upped quite a bit in this one… They kidnap [my character] to humiliate him, torture him, and ultimately bring him back to the village in Albania where the boys from the original film came from. With the help of my daughter… she wants to help me escape from where these bad guys have me”
I mean really though, wouldn’t his family be a little more safe a year or two after their daughter was kidnapped? Is it so bad to go to Disneyland once in a while? No one’s going to kidnap you and sell you into prostitution there, unless it’s consumer prostitution. [EW via The Playlist]
