Here’s the stylish first trailer for The Great Gatsby

Well, what we have here is the usual Baz Lurhmann. It’s a lot of flash and style. This time it’s in 3D. Oh look at the confetti at the party! Look at all the glasses of booze! It all feels so real!

Pyeah, whatever. 3D is a waste of money on a drama like The Great Gatsby, and it looks like a waste of money too. The film looks way too flashy, but we’ll see. I’m sure if you liked Australia, Romeo + Juliet or Moulin Rouge you’ll love this too.

Otherwise, it looks fairly boring. I understand it’s based on F. Scott Fitzgerald’s The Great Gatsby. That was a damn good book, but we’ll see how it’s adapted. Luckily, Lurhmann has a great cast supporting him: Leo DiCaprio as Gatsby, Tobey Maguire as Nick Carraway, Carey Mulligan as Daisy Buchanan, Joel Edgerton as Tom Buchanan, Isla Fisher as Myrtle and newcomer Elizabeth Debicki as Nick’s love interest.

It looks like Sin City, but boring. Leonardo DiCaprio and Carey Mulligan look mismatched, which happens with Leonardo DiCaprio and anyone.
