HBO has just gone ahead and announced a bunch of stuff, with the big news being that Game of Thrones will return on Sunday April 6, 2014 at 9 pm. April 6 also happens to be my birthday, so I’m going to assume HBO is giving me a birthday present (thanks, HBO!).
Normally, Game of Thrones starts up in March. They’ve decided to debut it in the first week of April because of another gargantuan show that everyone watches: The Walking Dead, which returns February 9 and ends on March 30. And of course, HBO wants to make sure the season premiere of Thrones goes off without a hitch and is wildly successful.
They’ve also announced that Boardwalk Empire will end this fall. I know a lot of people really dig this show, but I haven’t watched it since the beginning of the first season. It’s not that it’s bad or anything, it’s just part of my giant backlog of TV programs to watch.
And finally, HBO also announced that April 6 would see the debut of Mike Judge’s (Office Space) new comedy show Silicon Valley as well as the return of Julia Louis-Dreyfuss’ Veep. Oh, and Vice, too! You might as well just tune in to HBO all day on April 6. Happy birthday. [Variety]
