George Takei wants Star Wars and Star Trek fans to unite against Twilight
Star Wars and Star Trek have some loyal fan bases, and like William Shatner and Carrie Fisher they just can’t stop trying to one up each other. They’re at each others throats almost every day. It’s scarier than the Crips and Bloods, really.
But now George Takei has stepped in. He wants an end to this needless war and wants to redirect resources to a much larger threat to fiction: Twilight. Takei goes on to explain that there’s no heroism or camaraderie in Twilight, only vampires who sparkle and go to high school.
Oh, and the kicker: “There are no great stories, characters or profound life lessons to be had in Twilight. No. In Twilight, the only message that rings loud and clear is: ‘Does my boyfriend love me?’” [Chicago Sun-Times via Gizmodo]
