Fox Wants Channing Tatum and Joseph Gordon-Levitt For A Guys and Dolls Remake

Fox has just acquired the rights to classic MGM musical Guys and Dolls, which starred Frank Sinatra and Marlon Brando. The studio has their sights on remaking it and has two dudes that could fill the shoes of Sinatra and Brando. OK, maybe not fill their shoes but fit in them relatively well.

That duo is Channing Tatum and Joseph Gordon-Levitt. These two may be the best choice out there for a Guys and Dolls remake. Firstly, they can both dance. JGL can sing, I’m not sure about Tatum but we’ll certainly find out. They both appeal to men and women, which is important because Sinatra and Brando appealed to both genders as well.

Combine those two with a musical about shady gangsters making a bet over which one could get a girl with a date while saving up money for a craps game and I think you have something interesting. Of course, neither of the two are confirmed for the film. Firstly, the film needs a screenwriter and director before getting two of the more popular young actors in Hollywood to sign on.

Of course, things could always go horribly wrong and we could end up with an adaptation of a classic musical that’s 90 percent extreme closeup. [Deadline]
