If you’re a fan of Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, or, hell: Hunter S. Thompson then you finally have another film to look forward to.
Meet Bruce Robinson’s (How to Get Ahead in Advertising) The Rum Diary. The film is an adaptation of Thompson’s first book, which was only published after Terry Gilliam’s adaptation of his other book Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas came out.
Johnny Depp plays Paul Kemp, another literary alter ego of Thompson, who is a reporter that goes to San Juan, Puerto Rico in the 1950s to work at a newspaper. Amber Heard plays Chenault. The film also stars Aaron Eckhart, Michael Rispoli, Richard Jenkins, Giovani Ribisi and Marshall Bell. It’s slated to hit theaters October 28th in limited release. [GK Films via Comingsoon]
