End of an era: The Dark Knight Rises finishing shooting in Pittsburgh
The Dark Knight Rises may be the most leaked movie in history. We know so much about the film from the leaks that you could probably string together the general plot of the film.
Hell, there have been some major plot points that have been spoiled for a lot of people. Plot points I won’t share here just in case you a virgin to these leaks.
It seems like there was something new shared every day, whether it was a stunt double or tumblers or the Batman’s various vehicles. It wouldn’t stop.
It was absolutely relentless, actually. But now it’s over. They’re done. Pittsburgh, your moment is up. No more renting helicopters to get an aerial view of the changes made to Heinz Field. No more lining the streets. No more walking to work with a cup of coffee in your hand and soiling your pants when Batman’s newest toy rumbles down the street.
For most people, your reputation has been sullied. Who is going to want to shoot a film there? Don’t worry, Pittsburgh, Tom Hardy has your back.
I think there’s a certain inevitability if you’re going to shoot in the middle of the street — that it’s very hard to block off the entire street from people taking photographs. But that doesn’t mean it’s going to be anything like the film. You have people taking photographs from a distance of what’s going on on the ground. It bears very little resemblance to what’s going on.
That’s a well-measured response. I’m the sure the filmmakers had to expect SOME leaks when they were transporting huge vehicles across town, but I really don’t think they expected the amount that’s been shared this summer.
The Dark Knight Rises will now head to New York and Los Angeles to shoot before heading into post production. Oh, and this giant Thank You Pittsburgh poster is an ad put out in a newspaper in Pittsburgh by Nolan and Company. Sweet, huh? [SuperHeroHype via Comingsoon and Access Hollywood via Hollywood News]
