Dailies 5/8/12: The Campaign, James Cameron’s Battle Angel and more
The Avengers made so much money in its opening weekend it’s pretty insane. Although it’s comical that Miley Cyrus’ new movie LOL made less than Avengers did in a single theater. That’s just sad, even with Cyrus’ star power it should bring in a million bucks.
You couldn’t pay me a million bucks to get excited about Scary Movie 5. It’s a spoof of two-year-old film Black Swan and Anna Faris isn’t involved. Someone tell me: what’s the point?
There was little point in Disney making a formal announcement about Avengers 2, so they kind of just mentioned it in a conference call. “Oh, by the way, Avengers 2 is happening.”
James Cameron says Battle Angel could still happen even though he said he’s only making Avatar movies, but I assume that’s only if he gets bored of the world of Avatar and documentary work.
You can look forward to Ben Affleck’s future films though. Don’t laugh, the guy has some talent. And Argo looks like his most ambitious project to date. And it’s even based on a true story!
The Campaign looks like it could be a nice spoof of America’s election system. It’s all a big joke! Hahaha get it!? Did you see what I – no? OK, the viral trailer looks pretty interesting. I’d like a real trailer though. The prospect of Zach Galifianakis and Will Ferrell as opposing politicians in an election is too good to suck.
What doesn’t suck: The Hulk in The Avengers. His look has even come a long way. I mean, check it out. It just goes to show how good CG has gotten.
The sound in The Avengers is pretty good by the way, with all the crazy stuff and action going on it’s impressive that they pulled it all off. SoundWorks Collection has a nice little video you can watch about the making of the sound design.
If you want more Marvel movies you’ll have to wait till The Amazing Spider-Man in about a month. If you want more after that it’s Iron Man 3 in May 2013, and that’s added Rebecca Hall to the cast. Yeehaw.
