Dailies 4/30/12: Dark Knight Rises viral ads, Iron Man’s suits and new Hulk
In the movie biz, dailies are unedited raw footage from the day. The director peruses them and gets a rough outline of the stuff he shot that day. At Swiftfilm, the dailies are the best stories of the day plus some that didn’t make the cut. It’s the unedited form of Swiftfilm, in a fun little package. Enjoy.
The Avengers comes out on Friday, so we’re naturally going to celebrate it. We even changed our Facebook page’s cover photo. Part of a celebration is a week-long look at every movie that connects to The Avengers. First up is Iron Man, you can read our retrospective of it here. It’s pretty awesome.
Then you can explore all the changes Iron Man’s suit has gone through. I mean really, dude changes his armor more than Lady Gaga changes her hair, and he’s only been in three movies! One hasn’t even come out yet.
A new Hulk movie is closer to coming out than ever before, just by the way. Although that’s what being awesome in a blockbuster movie like The Avengers gets you. Improved comic book and toy sales and tons of interest, as well as millions of people clamoring for more Hulk, are the reason it’s going to [most likely] happen. I just hope the Hulk smashes box office records next time.
The Dark Knight Rises will certainly smash box office records when it comes out, but for now we will have to make due with some awesome viral advertising that asks people to hunt for John Doe, aka Batman. It’s basically a police report on the caped crusader and it’s damned awesome.
If you’re not into superheroes, but you love dinosaurs then get excited. James Cameron’s protege is preparing a science fiction dino movie at Warner Bros. It’s about a rapidly-evolving group of dinos that destroy Los Angeles. No, they won’t get rid of the fakeness.
If you’re tired of all the special effects goodness you can settle down and read a book. A book about, say, Uggie the dog from The Artist. Yeah, little dude is getting a memoir done about him. And about his life. Why didn’t Wilson get this kind of treatment?
Aaron Sorkin’s new HBO show The Newsroom is getting a lot of attention from people, but that’s because it looks awesome. The new trailer is out today and it’s friggin’ fantastic. If you don’t watch it then I don’t know what to say about you other than you must not like political/journalistic/Aaron Sorkin/HBO shows. So blah.
