Amazon set up their crowd-sourced movie studio Amazon Studios a couple of years ago, inviting amateur writers to submit their movie scripts. If Amazon liked it, they’d start developing it and give you money. Its goal was to find and launch new writing talent.
The guys who submitted Zombies v Gladiators never would have imagined this outcome: Horror legend Clive Barker is going to rewrite the film for Amazon Studios. Barker is most famous for Hellraiser and Candyman, but now he’ll be using his powers for a movie about gladiators from ancient Rome taking on an army of zombies.
Here’s the synopsis:
“Set in ancient Rome, the Zombies vs. Gladiators story begins when a shaman who is about to die in the Coliseum casts a spell that unleashes the world’s first zombies. It’s up to a gladiator to stop the spread of the zombie horde and save Rome.”
This is an exciting prospect, and Barker’s name may get the project fast tracked to Amazon Studio’s partner Warner Bros. [Movies.com]
